So... Still looking into the financial of grabbing up a car. I didn't want to go over $20k, but...

Kinja'd!!!

I found a 2014 focus ST3 with 10k on the clock, CPO, for just under $23k and I think I still have some wiggle room in there.

Holy crap the want is strong.

Thoughts?

**EDIT** realize also, Ford CPO includes a 7 year, 100k mile power train warranty. That is a huge draw for me.

There are new Focus ST's on Autotrader for below $19k.

But the Fiesta ST is better.

And a Miata is fun and much cheaper.

Nice car. I'd look at it. Thoughts same as always - pay a mechanic you choose to check it. You don't want a car that's been flogged. Wonder why it's on the market ... repo? Demonstrator at the dealership?

I really want an ST1 but we don't get those in Canada. (I'm too fat for the recaros but I want a FoST)

It's at a dealership, said the guy ended up a bit uncomfortable in it and traded it in for something else. I still question that a bit too.

Fist is too small, too weak.

It's tempting. As always, make sure that you have it checked out very well by an independent mechanic, and make sure that you actually DO have the wiggle room. Speaking from experience, there's not many things more disheartening than realizing in 18 months that you stretched a biiiiit too far, and now you need to trade it in for something cheaper. Also, make sure that the wiggle room include any anticipated repairs/maintenance.

Fiesta is way too small for my needs. And miata has 2 seats :(

Most definitely. I also meant I think the price can come down a bit too.

I will certainly have someone check it out if that is the case. The nice thing with Ford CPO is the warranty. That's part of what makes me want to go that route so much. I really like the GTI, but the warranty and repairs frighten me.

Why is theFiesta way too small, when the Focus is just one size up?

WHY IS THE FIESTA TOO SMALL?!?!

I dunno about weak, I would cross shop that and a JCW MINI which is no slouch. Size I understand.

Warranty would be good....I've seen three get traded in on various other vehicles in the local area because of size, or the new GTI.

It's crazy, the CPO warranty is 7yrs 100k miles, brand new is 5 years 60k miles. It almost seems smarter to go CPO.

Somewhere else on the site today a dealership was claiming a guy traded a Volvo Polestar (if I recall correctly) because his dog didn't fit in it. I believe, if the dealership cosigned the note, it goes back there if repossessed. On the other hand, repossession doesn't necessarily mean it was driven hard.

true. Yeah. It's just weird because the CPO warranty is way better than a new car. lol
